Is there a leader in the house?

Can't say I have had a great time in the last month.
Things have been piling up and came to a head on the 14th, front at time, I have been a miserable person to be with, and like my colleagues,a person on a trigger fuse. This makes the work place very unhappy, so bad that most of the staff are applying to get out.. To anywhere and almost all of the supervisors are applying to regress, with one being reasonably happy, one has gotten out and one is aiming to go higher.
The new regime in both local management and state government has meant the firstly my friend will Lose his job. A Job he loves and is excellent in. Also a Job that the railway sorely needs. It boggles my mind that the state government opened the dusty annals of history and dug this scheme up. Its a rehash of a failed scheme and it will fail again.
In the mean time 500-600 staff will lose their lively hoods.. For no good reason and no cos saving. Secondly, this is the tip of the iceberg, I even had a screaming match at work over this, my colleagues feeling Teflon coated until I pointed out that we are losing panels, the smaller boxes that remain are closing and if they think for a second that they are impossible to replace then they are on some sort of mind altering drug.  Our state government is looking to shed 5000 jobs in the railway in 5years, and stupidly not from where it is needed, but the important frontline jobs are the ones on the chopping board.

The stupidity of this is mind blowing.

I keep getting people citing the Victorian model at me, well travel on a train in Victoria. I dare you. Try to get information. Try to find your way round by yourself. And you cannot compare a railway like Sydney's ( Trains operate for 20 hours a day, and over 1 million weekday passenger journeys are made on 2365 daily services over 2080 km of track and through 306 stations ) with a pissy little one like Melbourne's. (Melbourne's suburban railway network consists of 16 electrified lines, the central City Loop subway, and 200 stations, with a total length of 372 km of electrified lines. The suburban network operates between approximately 5.00 am and midnight. In it's BOOM year of the 2008–2009 financial year, the Melbourne rail network recorded 213.9 million passenger trips, the highest in its history- that's much less than Sydney) also even Melbourne is adding more security staff not less.

You cannot compare apples with oranges!!

I have heard HK system cited as another system to emulate... Well again you cannot compare Sydney a city of 4.5million people spread across a huge area (roughly 2058/km² )to Hong Kong a city of 7 million people in a tiny area (1104 km2 (426 sq mi)). The HK network is metro and ours is not.  People travel short hops across the city ( for the most part)AND Sydneysiders travel on average an hour or more. Some up to three hours. I know I travel 90 minutes each way if the trains work.  Who in the government is coming up with this crap??

The only network we are close to and it's only close is the Paris RER. Nothing else. Not Moscow, not London, ( though the bosses try to say it is) not new York. Not Brisbane or Melbourne. Sydney has special needs and we can't use an overseas model.
We can use Brisbane, but again we have a larger network. Still that's the best run in our country. I wonder if these 'experts' have even left home let alone travelled to see any of these networks. If the NSW public thing our train system is bad now, you wait until you have to rely of an overstretched police force or worse, a private security guard. Many staff were assaulted by Chubb guards employed to protect them and some employees had death threats. And my premier is giving these cowboys training in batons and handcuffs. Even I will travel more by car then train. It will be just to dangerous.

Leaving the railway aside, Bonds has closed their NSW factory, leaving a few hundred people out of work and the major banks are shedding jobs.  Just WTF if going on?? This is the lucky country but unless you work in mining and not as a truck driver as they are looking to go to remote trucks in the near future, there is no booming economy. People in my state in particular are crippled buy less jobs and the hugest taxes in the country.

We need a leader.

Not this person who lead a coup to become leader, but a strong "don't fuck with me" leader. Similar to Paul Keating. Love him or hate him, you didn't mess with him. He lead his party with an iron fist until the people voted him out. All I am asking is.. WHERE ARE THE LEADERS.??? I am sick of cardboard cut outs who even steal speeches from international heads of state. Sick of politicians who don't have the balls to stand up for anything. This sort of crap on both sides of politics is what brought Australia to this point. How about less "experts" and more doers....   -

My poor little town

This is the 4th flooding storm in three days. My town was washed away in the first one and as it was due to the rain and not the creek we can't sandbag against the sky. This video from a local firefighter shows a lot Well Sunday had another storm and today (Monday) it hit us again. I had to move David's car so headed (like the rest of Picton) to Coles, the only undercover car park In town. The carpark was full. It usually only sees 10 cars are most but it has packed. I was there early enough to get a space, so took my remaining $10, bought a sandwich and coffee and sat to watch the mayhem. It was right over the town. Lightning and thunder was frequent and terrifying to small children. A few were like bombs going off, causing everyone to flinch. Picton Floods Breakfast After the hour long storm passed and headed for Tim and Drue's place I wandered the town shooting the damage. Had a chat to the charity people collecting money for the cancer council, and moved on to more flood damage. Picton Floods Picton Floods Home and tried to nap but it was futile as I had a train at 1900hrs. A brief check of the network and I decided to risk train travel. Least I won't have to stress about driving home tired! :-)

Lets try again

I spend an hour or two updating the past week on my ipad, using the official blogger app. I saved my work as I went like a good girl. I then went to upload it to here and poof everything deleted and the app shut down. FUUUCKKKKK So here we go again. Sigh.. Such great insights lost.. well, probably not. ANyway here we go again.

Jan 29, A Sunday off a rare event. Overtime was offered but I refused.I did washing and managed to hang it out as it was actually not raining. The snakes had their cages changed and I see one of your snakes has been losing condition. She needs forced feeding soon. :-( Went to Mcdonalds for a coffee and to do some paper work but as I finished my feta muffin, thunder rolled in so I had to head home to rescue the washing. As the sunset, I loaded my 8X10film, into the developing tank and set about developing the sheets. One was under developed but the other was perfect. Not technically but images appeared. I also uploaded the teslar1 film. Revolog Teslar 1 Film
Happy with the success of the day

Jan 30 My boss actually returned my call about my missing money in my pay packet. He confirmed that the issued were not at his end but at payroll's end so I was now armed with the ammo to deal with the scary paymasters. My payroll officer (who is softly spoken) found all my forms and confirmed that I had been short changed and I was going to be given a special. This has never happened to me before. I was entitled to a special. HUZZAH! A few more dollars in my account. BUT this only means I can pay some outstanding debts. Grunt. Still. The weather was extremely humid and I saw twitter awash with whinging about the heat. We get one hot day in 60days and everyone whinges. GEEZ. Tracks
Work as quite and rather pleasant, a different feeling.. lol and when I finally got home, I wanted to use @egaeus idea of exposing my 8X10 negative onto a piece of photo paper. My dark room was unavailable as David was using it as a bedroom.. so I only played with one piece of paper. Headed to bed without developing it.

Jan 31 Again David snuck out for his AM shifts. The alarm rudely dragged me out of bed at 9am and up to the PO. The canvas print of Fabian, developed by me and then scanned had arrived. My canvas print I am thrilled with the result. Who would have though that a 135 negative can be enlarged so much. Amazing. Also great to see your own work in canvas. Also in the mail was the 4X5 pinhole camera from Poland. A beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Alas no film holders. BUT the aforementioned @egaeus had kindely donated some to me. Not yet arrived.
  Pinhole from Poland
Close up

USPS had crushed a box with my sunscreen in it. Even pinching the bottles. LUCKILY none leaked Happy to have this sunscreen. I can go 8 hours in the sun with no burning with this stuff. Got a rejection letter from the ATSB. :-( Sad making but I suppose to be expected. Also a rejection letter from a company in perth. Missed my connection home, but luckily it was held at Wolli or several Southern Highlands people would have missed it due to the illawarra being late. Talk about close call. Shame management is so petty about the whole thing. Maybe time to go higher... Hmm. Home finally and David was up. He helped me with the photo paper project, flashing a second piece of paper at 1/1 power. I developed both papers and damn it both over exposed. David was determined to make this work so I loaded another piece of paper and he flashed it at 1/128th power. I developed it and huzzah an image appeared. Alas I had put it in a wet tube so it was water damaged prior to developing..

(Lesson there) but a win none the less
. Experiments

As it was now around 1am Feb 1 we hung it to dry and headed to bed.

Feb 1 Fisheye Feb. I do this in film as it is more fun, but was going to do a backup in digital. Getting up today was a struggle..Back to the cool weather which is good. otherwise a very quiet day. Most exciting thing was getting lunch at Platform 7 at Sydneham. yay.

Feb 2
Fisheye feb 2

David was up and about for a trip to Newcastle. The official handover of the final two locos to CFCLA. The boys were excited and Drue even went into town. His pics are here It took me ages to go back to sleep. Next time I woke up was 1/4 to 11. Better. Pouring outside. No montivation. I occured to me that I should give every opportunity a go, no matter how hypocritical. SO I spent the morning applying for a job and tried to get Drue to do the same. This done, it was my usual trip to the PO where my bleach had arrived and a box from @egaeus YAY!! Three little 4X5 film holders nestled in the box. Aw THANK YOU!!!!
  Gift from @egaeus

A side trip to get the mortgage insured..well the house but its really for the benefit of the mortgager and home again. I tried out this bleach and love the results. Went grape this time. Love it. Need Ben to fix my black with a grey covering brand. Off to work via train and hiked up to Celinis which was closed at 2050 even though the cafe is supposed to be open till 2200hrs. Its stated and its also late night shopping. WTF?? Its cold and raining, why are you closed??? Lazy. UNhappily I trudged to 7/11 for a $1 coffee. Settled into work finally dry and warm. So endth the day...
