Fabian's visit

Poor Fabian. One of the few times a year that we get to spend time together and it rained. Not light rain but heavy downpours. The child spent the most of our time in front of the the TV. Friday saw mother passing through the house, not awakening anyone. Weird... Saturday, and in the evening I spotted some blue patches of sky so I packed the child and the 1896 8X10 camera and zoomed up to Razorback. We had a great time shooting the cows with this ancient camera. She jammed so I spend around 20 minutes unjamming it gently. The wood is very fragile which is also why I can't sit on a modern tripod bracket. I need a tray type top for tripod. From here we headed for Mortdale as he has to start school on monday. Plus his Grandfather was taking him swimming on sunday.

YES HDR faiil but the child moved.
Michael and Inara invited us for Dinner, so I collected David from the station and we had a very nice meal. Was after 2330 before we got home. Was nice to eat homecooked food for the first time in ages. No update on my pay, my boss and payroll never returned my calls so have to tackle them on monday. Dunno how I will survive the fortnight with no money. :-(

Australia Day

worked for 6 hours of it. The drove to mortdale to pick up the child. Hurried home and was going to try to stay awake. Alas It didn't last. I crashed and slept until noon.
The weather in picton was on and off heavy rain. SO the poor kid was stuck inside. He watched many hours of the simpsons on DVD and a few more hours of PS3 games.

David had given me $10 to buy Fabian some food so we headed out for Maccas, then bread and sausages for lunch tomorrow. Ah bad parenting at its best. The child and I settled into an evening of Guitar hero and Rockstar before I sent him to bed and David came home. A quiet day for sure.
Fabian Hams it up in Coles

Me and Fabian Stayed inside today
Fabian's cat Poe
The traditional Sam Kekovich video was out. Not as funny as the past few years but a good spoof.

A nightmare

The day was essentially a nightmare.
An alarm woke me up at noon. So I stumbled outta bed. Showered and during this time, poor David rang as he had been stuck for 90 minutes on the highway as a truck has jumped to the other side of theroad, across the median strip which is 4 lanes wide of grass and trees and squashed a poor unsuspecting motorist coming the other way in the farthest possible lane. All three people died instantly. Having seen the photo, it's a mercy that they probably died very very quickly.
Remember alway live life as if it was your last, you never know when there is a truck with your name on it.
The postoffice had nothing.. So I headed back to arrange my paperwork that mother had requested. Luckily my loving husband had collected all my statements and put them in a folder. WIN!!
Train to town and i spelt the whole way. Of course I developed a headache and by the time I was at wynyard, it was bordering on migraine fun. yay.
Met mother at the spot she stated and took her to the Telstra store, where I effectively turned off her phone by transferring it to a micro sim. Her phone hopefully being waiting for her at Paulette's house. If not.. Then no phone. She has a work phone so it's not all bad.
Headed to to the appointment on the 10th floor of a building in hunter street and was greeted with
Stairs
Um,... 10 floors!! Ok one step at a time. 32 steps per floor...
Panting, I bet my mother up. But damn I was sweaty and felt horrible. Water and pain killers didn't make me feel all that much better. The lift has been out for two days.
Not exactly sure of the agenda of the meeting and seems to be mostly a waste of effort and time but I did get some insights of what has been set up in my name. It's actually not all bad. The guy had to go at 1800hrs so we were dismissed. Annoying my slightly but I needed to get outside anyway.
Mother bought some Maccas, the order being stuffed up, but I had ceased to care, we had argued about western Sydney... I was tired and still with this bloody headache.
We parted ways and I went to burn film. Happily snapping away with the FE2 and the EM, WHEN it dawned ON my tiny brain that the shutter speed was always the same on the EM. Yvonne had neglected to check the batteries, massive WOOSANG FAIL. Grunt, it had a review film in it, 10 frames lost unless I go for double exposing the first 10. Not a fan of double exposures, but how can I review a film when I made such a massive error. Damn Nikon and their always work policy, lest the FE2 doesn't work unless on bulb with no battery.
Continued with the FE2 Sydney and b&w works anyway.
#sydney conservatorium of music. Est 1915
Started losing light so headed to Celinis. Close to work and great coffee.
Had my $5 special and after such a day, it was bliss.

Celinis

It stated to rain, yay :-/
It's raining now. I just can't get motivated to move
But work required me to turn up so into the rain I went, arriving hot and wet . Again.
Celinis has this great idea... A pre paid coffee card. Love this idea and will be buying one on payday.

Coffee card

Also will show my other fav cafes. How can they lose? They have my money, if I lose the card, too bad, it I use all the coffees I will probably buy food to go with it, gets people in your cafe and no lose to the business, BRILLIANT!!

Work was a actually pleasant. Colleagues made me espresso, another a hot dog. A good crew can sense a stressed person and will help.

Where did January go

18th-  picking up from last week. The train ride home on my day off was rather pleasant..Marlene drove me to Campbelltown, so I had 49minutes to fill in before my train. Ah well... What a way to have a day off :-/
The Arvo wake up saw me at the PO but there was no mail. None. Aw.. Why does my magic box not produce stuff??? It was actually a bright and sunny day so I headed up razorback for some shots.  Took the road towards Mt Hunter but got distracted by old Razorback road. :-)
David was finishing earlyish and I had to drop a loan camera to the girl at the developing place, so I headed to CBT. Alas Omesh, the girl, was not on. Rats. Picked up the texture film which I reviewed on the film blog.
Dinner at the RSL was nice but the place was unairconditioned so it got hot and muggy. Ugh. Getting home, there was a lightning storm. Had to take shots :-)
Lightning over Picton

19th- slept to around 10:30 when Louise sms'd me. Quite a surpirse. Managed to snooze longer but eventually had to give up. Trackies on, I headed to the PO. Again nothing, what's wrong with my magic box?? I turned towards Mowbray park and formulated a quick plan to go to Nattai national park. As I arrived, it clouded over and went crappy. Aw. Stopped a few times, once being Oakdale workers club where there is a miners memorial before arriving at the lookout.
Miners memorial

One a sunny day this would be fabulous. It has BBQ, a play area and a great view of Lake Burragorang.
Lake burragorang

Nice to see water in the dam. Not much mobile phone service out here so as I left my mobile rang, of course it was work. Come on on in, so I headed straight from the lookout to work dressed as a slob. Complete slob. Ugh. Felt dirty, was dirty. It was a long shift.

20th- the dreaded 12hr shift drive home. Yay. Tired and still dirty. The wee hours of the day was spent chatting to an IG friend, which filled In the slow hours. Of course the police closed a station at shift change over time, making it busy. Promised Kevin a sunrise shot and luckily today was a pretty one.
Sunrise

Was awake at noon, but managed to go back to sleep, only to be awoken by my doorbell. I was going to ignore it, but I remembered that mother was coming over. She had papers for me to fill out but my brain was fogged. I had no idea what the forms meant. I had to give up. I needed a shower and packed my cameras for an excursion. I had to double back so thought I would shoot in the city. Massive possession on so heaps of paperwork.

21st- managed fatigued at work . I had to. Was going to head into the city but the weather poured down. So I stayed put. Alarm at midday had me up and showered ready for my arvo shift. Afternoons are very boring. Excruciating.
I made a stupidly low offer on a crown graphic. I was sure he would say no. But the time I woke up, it was accepted, oh crap!! Had to scrabble to get money. ARRGHHH. Never mind. Have wanted one for over a year, so why not.
David didn't answer my call, so I snooped on him. Lol. Of something I usually do and even had to install the app first. Ah I saw he was with friends some sent a message. I arranged a dinner, forgetting that is was drone night out.
A night out

My husband picked me up and Even had a present for Me. Aw. ❤❤❤❤I was delighted. Met Evan and Beau for dinner but the pub was so loud, had to text ppl to talk to them. We headed to somewhere quieter. Evan introduced us to doughbox. The most beautiful woman works there. :-)
Lovely Lady at the waffle shop
This place even makes decent coffee and the waffles are fantastic.

Fell in love with this pin up. Need to get a print.
Love this pinup

22nd- got up earlier than I expected. Grunt. Still had a few rare hours with David. A lazy day. Spent it cleaning lizard cages, putting the rough scales outside and cleaning the womas. I set up Ink's old cage for the two babies so now they have uv lighting and more heating .
Caught the rail bus to work as my car had to be left at work. The bus is actually ok. It's direct. It's relaxing and just as well, as soon as I walked into work I was hit with a wall of work. Didn't stop all night. Very happy to collapse into bed.

23rd- very late wake up. David rang to set up a quote for solar. That's cool. Whilst we wont save any money, it may offset my high power bills. The magic PO box had a parcel!!! Yay!! Was getting worried about it. a little Nikon EM which in my excitement, I forgot to check the batteries. Oh no. 10 frames of a review film shot at 1/90th... Ugh., wondering if I should rewind and double expose 9-10 frames? Or soldier on after I get batteries. I dunno.
David came home and took me to KFC where we discovered they have deleted the works burger. Had a tasteless sandwich instead, which they would stop removing the good burgers. We sat at Tahmoor station and ate whilst I waited for my train. A quiet shift for once.

The past few days

12th- no mail!!!! Eep! Visited the antique store, i rarely do this as Picton antique stores are extremely over priced but for some reason, I went in.. Found a mint (well almost) Condition Kodak 629 Model c with case and instructions. I out a deposit on it and had to forgo my coffee as that was all my cash. I also discovered F hardness in pencils. Cool!! Not H and not B but in between. It seems perfect. Maybe a new favourite hardness? Kodak 620 model C Took a drive looking for a tree a lady posted and it's one of those photogenic trees so went for a drive....didn't find the tree but discovered not only is Oakdale a bit of a hole, but it doesn't have a giant Dome. Huh?? I have no idea why it is there. Only took some distant pics and headed on to The Oaks. It was certainly a lovely day for a drive. The dome. Yashica mat 13th- My day off.. Of course I was at work until 6 am and slept my day away, ugh. It was a cold morning. It's January, it's supposed to be hot and I was delighted to revel in this 9C weather. It's odd though. Very off putting. No mail again!! But I paid for the the camera in the antique store and took it home. The day had warmed up to a lovely day and so I put the baby Roughies outside. Developed the Werra film and the ir film that was in the canon a-1.
Baby rough scaled python
14th- awake at 0830!!! What nonsense is this!! The day was overcast and grey to David settled into the armchair and stayed there. We finally went to St marks to shoot some Revolog Teslar film and saw a dragonfly caught in the spider's web. Tried to save him but the poor creature's wings with glued up with the sticky web. David tried his best be we had to leave him on a leaf to sort the wing out. Sad making. Bleached my stripe back in but didn't have enough bleached to it turned auburn, oh well it's a work in progress. Back to eBay for some bleach and some red. Dropped a film off at David Wilson and the girl there wants to learn film/ Manual cameras. Cool!!

15th- stupidly placed a bid on an item I really couldnt afford and as things go with situations like this, I won the damed thing. Ugh, had to honour it. :-/ there goes my money. Poor again for two weeks now but no one to blame but myself. Added pink to mellow the auburn a bit. Had Beau help me manage my RSS feeds and am slowly moving all over to my domain account rather than my gmail. Thinking of moving the Blog, least the camera one, but it's not as simple as that. Sigh Got the bus to work as there was a shut down and we had buses going Campbelltown and then central. Actually faster trip to work than usual. It was rather relaxing except the fact that I cannot fit in the seats, my legs are too long. Work was slow.. Yawn....

16th- fatigued. Just the flat tired feeling all day. Tackled the random pile of negatives and out them in a folder. Headed to McDonalds and whilst there, randomly opened the UPS app on my phone. Its message glared at me. DELIVERED. WTF!! checking the time stamp, it was 20 minutes after David had picked up the mail in the morning. Have I stated now much I hate couriers?? I am solo lucky that the staff at the PO know me and tolerate me. The time was now 1720.hrs. The post office closed at 1700hrs..FUCK. David whipped out his phone and rang the PO. Kelley answered. Can Yvonne run over and get the big box?? She said YES!! Yay, I ran across the car park to the back door and she was waiting. It was a big box. Over 15kg in fact, but I got my big box. Heading home, I got to rummage. Negative storage sleeves, film from IG friends and a camera with 36 rolls of fi,m and may many batteries, foam for a pelican case and a hoodie from Think Geek. :-) all happy making. Alas my joy was cut short when it was time to go to work. Sigh... Mind you, this no driving policy is really working for me. I am more relaxed over all. Think I will extend this to maybe trying a track work bus or two.. We shall see.

17th- slept till 1600hrs!! Wow! A major win for me. I didn't even hear David come in. That's the second time this week. Poor David is stuck on permanent day shift and so collapses into bed almost as soon as he gets home. Who says day work is not fatiguing?? Morons. Have no idea what they talk about. I did the mail run. Beau's Xmas present arrived, one month and one day after posting from the US. sigh The US policy of charging everyone in the world $9 extra for the privilege to post a box to and from the US had caused so many delays heaps of sellers no longer post overseas. Arghh but I don't blame them. ANYWAY!!! In the box was the most vibrant scarf I had ever seen. The cat was adorable but the scarf was a show stopper. It was well made and a lovely thick wool. My hats off to N3rdWool a wonderful product. And yes, it plays the Nyan cat song. David emerged from the bedroom just after 1700hrs, in time to order pizza it being a Tuesday. :-)alas the steak and brie pizza is not as good as the supreme with feta and egg. Work time!! The train was 9 late and I actually needed the early train. I had arrange to meet Beau and Evan to hand over the scarf and me take the opportunity to have a Celini's coffee. Luckily for me I didn't a lot at MacArthur and the connection was waiting at Campbelltown, having been terminated short. Made my coffee date, and the coffee was excellent but the shortbread even better. I dunno what Beau thinks of handmade stuff, but it brought a smile at least. Need to make some time to meet up over a dinner or something with my core friends. They deserve better. Maybe a lasagne TUB??? Today is officially my day off and I have not made it home yet. As always a day off is not a full 24hrs. Am pondering a shirt drive for shooting the Revolog film.

why does it rain on days off?

yes. My one day off and it rained. Not just rain but thunder and hail too. Not heavy or I would have moved David's car, but light stupid hail to make a racket and stop all washing and lawn mowing. ARGHHHHHH I found it all too much and spent the day in a miserable mood so I slashed my book collection. Not literally, but packed all into bags and released them all. Gone. So far the topic was paranormal romance, but it filled two bags and three boxes.

I have some x-rated books to give to a friend in Hornsby if she or her boyfriend come south.. but the rest were gone. Had enough of the clutter and I had read most of them anyway. Felt good. I will soon have shelf space for my cameras. I have to be brave and select more books for release. I had forgotten how much fun it is to release books. :-)

Fed the snakes, using thongs for once. AND just as well. Medusa lept from the cage and grabbed the rat and whipped her tail around my hand for grip. Great Had to get a new climbing stick and pry her off but she never let go of the rat.
The other snakes were no problem. Except the large female in quarentine. She is healing but still not eating. Its been months but she is still in good condition. Wish I could get her to eat one little rat...
Spent the rest of Sunday on the couch, watching my foxtel fade in and out due to the storm.

MONDAY
Much better, of course a work night. Means a good day. ALAS I had gone to bed with a headache and it was worse when I got up. The first time. Took drugs and water and headed back to bed. This continued most of the AM until finally around 11am, I could finally open my eyes without pain. WIN!! Had a shower and made my way to the PO.

Two boxes and a lumpy envelope PLUS my tax return. A measly $400 of which the tax man wants $110 ugh. I paid over $30k in tax and all I get back is $300 really. WTF. depressing. I even had tax added!!! Where did that go? Consolidated revenue? Take of my toll on my Motorway then I paid for it. :-(

ANYWAY the box had the most beautiful handmade journal in it. A heavy one. Just over a KG
Hand made leather journal
hand stiched paper and simply a joy to look at and touch.

I sat on the verandah of McDonalds and enjoyed the afternoon. It was warm and the breeze kept the heat down. Simply perfect and a feeling of calm settled on me. I just read a book on my ipad and sipped coffee. If only all afternoons can be so peaceful.
Off to work, but ARTC couldnt manage to provide a service. ALTHOUGH it is an hourly service I got notice 2 minutes before it was due at Picton. Oh Come on!! Its an hour to mossvale or so and you tell me 2 minutes prior instead of an hour ago. ARRGGHH SO had to ring D to bring my car down and I drove to CBT. Of course I had to pop into the film placem, thinking I had 24 minutes. I did but the girl took so long to write down my order, I had only 10 minutes to go a suburb away, park the car and run for the train.
I managed with the door closing as I made a desperate leap for the train. Left panting and sweaty I was annoyed at myself for taking the risk. Still Lets hope the film was worth it.
0340hrs...10/01/2012
Had A "discussion " about an apparent misroute.. 4331... tabled as its number states, south.. It got called out to the illawarra... Hmm no one questioned it. Except me. Why an I the only one who knows this shit. Its vital info and people just brush it away. AARGGHHHHH annoy making and one day will bite them in the arse. There is no pride in the job anymore.

More routine

THis month will be essentially all night shifts. It is also filled with pyjama days and double backs. Evil roster.

I have only been seeing David for an hour or two each day as he returns from work and I head out.
Have also made a major change in that I have an analogue blog, aka diary. I have had one for moany years but for specialist subjects. This is gthe first year that its a general dairy.
Digital is all very nice but everyone reads it and you have no control. Livejournal used to offer this control but it got unmanageable with spam. As is wordpress. Ugh

ANYWAY work has been busy, mostly just due to the funny timetable. Trains essentially run all night.
The weather has been odd. Two hot days then "cold" days then hot again.. its not summer as we know it. Every one day I get off its raining and cold.

the only nice weather is when I go to work.
Last light of the day

Morning Fred

Fred is happy to have a cage to himself. Poor optimus has a huge mite infestation. UGH. They jumoed everywhere and killing them was a challenge. They bit me too!! I have bites all down my legs from these nasty arachnids. Like fleas but related to spiders, smaller and more horrible than any spider.

end of 2011

Not a time of you I really care about. Frankly I see it as a julian calendar excuse to leave socity's rules at home and act stupid.

Got into work with all the stuff to dump on David's train. BUT work had other ideas. The Banktown line was affected, but an ibis. Yes another Ibis fried itself on essential infrastructure and caused delays for 16 hours by the time I left work. I was just as busy re-routing trains to minimise Bankstown's workload. Nothing that the experts did helped. we lapped the error codes three or four times this shift.

Left work to meet David, whose train had passed by my work but due to the workload and emmient visitors I was not able to get away. There were many people at the station who couldn't believe that Circular Quay was closed. They judt couldn't believe what the police officer was saying. I evenutually had to butt in as I was in uniform, as this woman was just not listening and explained that CQ was closed after 2030hrs due to it being NYE and safety concerns. The police officer was correct in his adivise and she had to walk from Wynyard. To which he added that you will need an armband to enter the area. This woman was travelling with young children so starting her journey at 2200hrs is stupid anyway. You cant help some people.

Wandered around Central taking general people shots. David was busy with his CSB so I had a drink and settled to wait.

At 2350hrs, David took us down to the Carpark, dragging the Semczuks behind.. :-)

We got to see 99% of the fire works but my quick release plate had a screww in the way and this caused great angst until David fixed it. I am happy with this location as we dont have 2.5 million people to contend with to and from and no one can stand in front of us.
